During the Holidays, my thoughts turn to those who are intensely battling depression and anxiety and those for whom this period is difficult.
To those who are alone. To those who, even surrounded by people, feel lonely.
To those making colossal efforts to have a roast on the Christmas table.
To those for whom the Holidays are a torment or an unpleasant memory. Or who are grieving the loss of a loved one, for whom this is a period of mourning.
To those without a roof over their heads, for whom the Christmas tree is something they only see on the streets.
To those caring for others who are ill during this time. Perhaps in hospitals. Perhaps in orphanages. Perhaps in nursing homes.
To those who have lost loved ones in wars. To those who are in wars, where calm, safety, and peace are the most lavish luxuries they can have.
And for the rest of us, including myself, I hope we look at ourselves with more love. Because it is the only way we can look at others with more love.
May we have peaceful days.
